Nkawkaw (E/R), Oct. 31, GNA- A Magistrate’s Court at Nkawkaw, presided over by Mr William Boampong, has remanded a 42-year-old Togolese woman in custody for abducting a 15-year-old girl. Sandra Dodzie alias Akosua Mansah, pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on November 12.
Police Inspector John Padmore Arthur, said Dodzie, who claimed to be a trader in Lagos, Nigeria, met 15-year-old Akua Aduba at Tudu in Accra working at a chop bar and through conversation, Dodzie got to know that Aduba did not know her parents because they left her at a tender age.
Inspector Arthur said Dodzie introduced herself as the real mother of Aduba and took her to her house and later sent her to a shrine where she allegedly forced her to drink some concoction after which she changed her name from Ekua Aduba to Amma Portia.
The prosecutor said about three weeks ago, the accused took Aduba to Asikam, a village near Nkawkaw in the Kwahu South District and introduced her as her daughter.
He said Dodzie started maltreating the girl, thereby arising the suspicion of the residents who decided to probe the true relationship her and the girl.
Inspector Arthur said one day the girl revealed to the people how she they met to some members of the Unit Committee who later lodged a complaint to the police.
Meanwhile, some people who claimed to be Aduba’s relatives were in court to claim her.
