Togbe Kpankpatriku elected VR Council of State representative

Ho, Feb. 8, GNA – Togbe Kpankpatriku III, Paramount Chief of Dodome Traditional Area in the Ho Municipal area was elected on Tuesday as the Volta Region’s representative to the Council of State.

He polled 20 votes to beat Togbi Amenya Fiti V, Paramount Chief of Aflao, who had six votes in the election supervised by Mr Mohammed Addoquaye, Volta Regional Director of the Electoral Commission.

The Krachi-West District Assembly, due to communication bottlenecks, and Adaklu-Anyigbe District Assembly, yet to be inaugurated, could not send their two representatives each to make up the 30 member electoral college.

Togbe Kpankpatriku pledged to consult all segments of the populace in the region and reflect their views on the Council.

He said the spirit of healthy competition, which characterised the election, reflected the deepening of democracy in the country. Togbi Fiti, on his part, promised to support and co-operate with Togbe Kpankpatriku during his tenure on the Council.
