Togbe Dagadu VII to be buried on Saturday

Kpandu, May 8, GNA – All is set for the burial and final funeral rites on Saturday of Togbe Dagadu VII, Paramount Chief of Akpini Traditional Area.

Kpandu, the paramount seat of the traditional area, is dressed up in red as a show of last respect to the late Paramount Chief who ruled for 14 years – from 1992-2006.

The chief’s palace has assumed a tourist attraction as foreign and local visitors thronged the place to see the traditional rites associated with the occasion and to pay their last respects. The atmosphere of royalty at the palace has been enhanced by a 34,500 Ghana-cedi renovation funded by the government. Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Region Minister who was in Kpandu on Thursday to familiarize himself with preparations towards the royal funeral, expressed his condolences to the people for the loss. He described the late Togbe Dagadu as one of the “oldest and greatest chiefs” of the Volta Region and said government was committed to ensuring that he was given a befitting burial.

Togbe Diawusie III, Acting President of Akpini Traditional Area, commended government for financial and material support towards the funeral and promised that everything would be done in a peaceful atmosphere. The Late Togbe Dagadu was 68 years old.
