Togbe Awusu confirmed as Ketu-North District Chief Executive

Dzodze, April 11, GNA – The 29-member newly created Ketu-North District Assembly on Friday unanimously endorsed Togbe Awusu III Chief of Afife as District Chief Executive. Togbe Awusu is also the Administrative Officer of Volta Regional Centre for National Culture. However, the assembly failed for the fourth consecutive time to elect a Presiding Member.

Mr Vincent Tetteh, 65, a retired teacher and sole candidate had 17 out of the 29 votes cast to gain the two-thirds majority required. He therefore stepped down for Mr Wisdom Fianu 48 and Togbe Agorwode, a chief to contest for the position but none of them was elected and the election was postponed. Mr Kofi Dzamesi, Volta Regional Minister said the peaceful manner Togbe Awusu was endorsed was refreshing and a good point for takeoff. He asked the people to avoid backbiting to enable the assembly operate in a healthy environment. Togbe Awusu said education, water and sanitation and agriculture would be the priority areas of the assembly to improve the living standards of the people.
