Tinkong is to have a senior secondary school

Tinkong (E/R), Jan 03, GNA – Some British nationals are to provide 90,000 pounds as initial funding for the construction of a senior secondary school Tinkong in the Akuapem North District.

Nana Toprah 1, the Guan Larteh Mawerehene, said this at the second anniversary celebration of the Tinkong Fekuw, a benevolent society, at Tinkong on Sunday.

He said the Britons would be visiting Tinkong in March to inspect the site for the school and interact with the people. Nana Toprah, the life patron of the society, said the people would be required to offer communal labour to support the construction of the project.

He repeated his pledge to finance the education of brilliant but needy children who would qualify from any basic school in Tinkong to the tertiary level.

Mr Owusu Bruku, the secretary of the society, said four citizens of Tinkong had promised to release a 38-acre plot for the construction of the SSS.

Nana Kweku Peprah, the Nkosuohene of Tinkong, called on the people to participate in the programmes of the society to promote the development of the town.
