Timber log kills one person, injures another

Cape Coast, Aug. 23, GNA – One person died and another was seriously injured, when the chain fastening logs on a timber truck become loose and one of the logs fell on them at the Ghana National College at Cape Coast on Monday.

Lance Corporal Emmanuel Adu-Gyamfi, of the Motor Traffic and Transport Unit, briefed the GNA about the accident.

He said the victims, both males, were standing near by a stationary truck, by the road, while the timber truck was moving from Nankessen in the Eastern Region to Takoradi, when the accident occurred.

He said the driver of the truck, Sulley Adama, has been detained to help with investigations into the accident. L/C Adu-Gyamfi said the injured man, Osumanu Adam was responding to treatment at the Cape Coast Central Regional Hospital while the body of the deceased had been deposited at mortuary pending identification and autopsy. 23 Aug. 04
