Timber firm urged to honour its social responsibility agreement

Nagori (Ash), Dec.13, GNA – The chiefs and people of Nagori near Nyinahin in the Atwima Mponua district of Ashanti have called on Kumi Timbers which operates in the area to honour its social responsibilities to the people.

Making the call through the Ghana News Agency at Nagori on Sunday, Mr Ampratwum Mohammed alias Baba, the unit committee chairman said the management of Kumi Timbers based in Kumasi promised to build a health post for the people.

Based upon this promise therefore he said the people have moulded about 3000 blocks for the construction of the health post but for almost three years now the company had reneged on its promise.

Mr Ampratwum also appealed to the mass cocoa spraying task force to increase the number of cocoa spraying gangs in the area since there were more that 400 cocoa farmers in the area and the only spraying gang therefore, could not adequately cater for all of them effectively. He also asked the newly created Atwima Mponua district assembly to rehabilitate the town’s local primary school which be said was in a very bad shape.
