Tiler arrested with heroin

A 33-year-old tiler has been arrested by the Mile 7 District police for allegedly having in his possession 78 wraps of some powdered substance suspected to be heroin.

The suspect, Benjamin Appiah, was arrested on November 4, 2016 in a swoop at Dome in Accra, along the stream.

He was reportedly having in his possession some quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp as well.

Upon interrogations by the police, Benjamin Appiah said he bought the substance for personal use.

He was said to have claimed that heroin is a drug he enjoyed using and often stocked his home with.

In the presence of the media, the suspect said, “My wife and children know that I take heroin and so they do not complain when I am smoking it at home.”

The Mile 7 District Police Commander, Superintendent Ussif Tanko, who briefed DAILY GUIDE, said Benjamin Appiah was arrested at the stream, noted to be the den for drug users and criminals within the area.

He said when the police raided the place most of suspected criminals took to their heels, but the police managed to apprehend Appiah in possessing of the substance.

Upon further interrogations, the suspect claimed he bought it at GH¢120 for personal use.

He would be processed for court soon.
