Tigo supports ‘Save A Life Blood Project’

For a second consecutive year, Tigo has supported the Save a Life Blood Project, an initiative by TV3 to collect blood for the National Blood Service.

The event took place at the forecourt of TV3, where hundreds of donors including employees of Tigo turned up to support the worthy cause.

Hospital officials from the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, 37 Military and Tema General Hospital gathered to collect blood supply in order to curb the 50 percent shortfall in supplies across the country.

Commenting on the sponsorship, Director for Corporate Communications and CSR, Gifty Bingley said: “This is the company’s way of showing love to patients in need this Valentine, by giving the gift of life. As a corporate institution, Valentine’s Day offers the opportunity to make a positive difference in the communities we operate in.”

“This is not the first activity we have done this Valentine’s season to show our love and support to the communities we operate in. Ahead of the actual day, we donated learning materials to students for our Shelter for Education project”, she further explained.

As part of its partnership efforts, Tigo also unveiled the Autism Aid App, a product of its 2015 Digital Changemakers winners, and founders of Autism Ambassadors Ghana, Alice Mamaga Akosua Amoako and Solomon Avemegah.

The app which is currently available on Google Play store serves as an information centre, SMS helpline and communication tool for parents and caregivers of autistic children.
