Thunder causes House to burn

Bredu-Okumaning (E/R), Sept 22, GNA – Thunder struck and caused fire to the house of Opanin Yaw Appiadu, a 58-year-old farmer, at Bredu near Okumaning in the Kwaebibirem District on Monday afternoon.

Madam Abena Nyarkoah, wife of Opanin Appiadu, told the GNA “the thunder struck three times destroying a coconut tree, the roof and floor of the house, setting the entire building ablaze while the husband was away from home.

Madam Nyarkoah also said six million cedis, three radio sets, a television set, three packets of roofing sheets, and clothes were destroyed.

The Assemblyman for the area, Mr Nicholas Mensah appealed to the District Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organisation to come to the aid of the victims.

The Unit Committee Chairman, Mr Edward Kofi Oteng sympathised with the victims and said all efforts would be made to rehabilitate them. 22 Sept 04
