Three to contest NDC primaries in Nkoranza South

Nkoranza (B/A), May 31, GNA – Three candidates are to contest the National Democratic Congress (NDC) Nkoranza South constituency primaries for the parliamentary slot.

They are Mr. Smart Tommy Jones, a 47-year-old businessman at Akuma, Mr. Kwaku Poku Boah, a 60 year-old lawyer at Nkoranza and Mr. James Opoku-Worae, a 58 year-old teacher at Brahoho.

Mr. Owusu Baffoe, constituency chairman, announced this at a meeting with executive members of the party at Nkoranza during which he introduced the aspiring candidates.

He cautioned the zonal executive members against spearheading the campaigns of the aspirants as the practice could create factions amongst members.

The candidates themselves should be allowed to move out to the people to canvass for their votes, as their victory or otherwise would depend on their manifestoes.

Mr. Baffoe advised the candidates to carry out their campaigns in a very decent manner without infringing on the rights and freedoms of other candidates.

Mr. Thomas Owusu-Ansah, constituency secretary, advised members not to sell their voter identification cards to anybody who would approach them with money or gifts, adding “if you do so you will be selling your power”.

He noted that rumours were circulating that some political leaders were purchasing voter ID cards at high prices in the hope of receiving massive votes during the December polls.

The secretary urged members to obtain the party’s ID cards so that they could fraternize with other members anywhere. Mr. Owusu-Ansah advised the youth in the party to be disciplined and to comport themselves at campaign rally grounds to avoid falling foul of the law. GNA
