Three suspected armed robbers arrested in Gwollu

Police in Gwollu in the Sissala West District of the Upper West region have arrested three suspected armed robbers who engaged in a shootout with the police patrol team on Friday dawn.

The suspects who are believed to be of Fulani extraction are currently being held in custody and would be paraded for identification on Monday April 3 2017 before being arraigned before court.

Tumu Divisional Police Commander ASP Guy Raymond on Tumu-based Radford Fm urged members of the general public to come and assist the police in identifying the suspects who are alleged to be terrorizing residents of the area.

Narrating how the police managed to arrest the suspects, he said Yaro Addo and Mumuni Diallo were seen around 2am on Friday at Fielmuo with an unregistered Haojin motorbike

He indicated that when the patrol team stopped them they attempted speeding away but accidentally climbed on something and fell. The third suspect however opened fire on the patrol team which forced the police to return same.

After a chase they abandoned the motorbike but were overpowered by the patrol team who arrested them. An empty AK 47 Rifle shells were found on them.
