Three Sekyere Afram-Plains schools receive $3,200.00 items

Three deprived basic schools at Drobonso in the Sekyere Afram-Plains District had taken delivery of educational materials totaling $3,200.00 for free distribution to the pupils.

These included 4,000 exercise books, 1,400 school bags and 1,000 pens and 1,000 pencils.

The beneficiaries were the Drobonso Presbyterian, Seventh Day Adventist and the Roman Catholic (R/C) primary schools.

Presenting the gifts, Ms Marian Yirenkyi, President of the Rotract Club at the Kumasi Polytechnic, said it came through the assistance of the University of McGill, Canada.

This formed part of this year’s “Rotary world week celebration” being held on the theme: “Reaching within to embrace humanity.”

She said the goal of the Club is to partner the government to bring relief to the poor and deprived population.

Mrs Agnes Apenwo, District Director of Education, thanked the Club for the donation and pledged that they would go to those who really needed them.

She said she was confident that other stakeholders would be inspired by the gesture to play their expected roles well to raise the standard of education in the area.**
