Mankranso (Ash), Oct. 4, GNA- Three schools in the Ahafo-Ano South District scored 100 per cent in the current Basic Certificate Examination (BECE).
It is the first time in five years since some schools in the District scored 100 per cent with a number of students scoring single digit aggregates.
This year, Kwamekyemkrom District Assembly (D/A) School, Mankranso D/A and Dwinyama Hope International Schools recorded the enviable feat, raising the district’s percentage pass to 41 per cent as against 31 of last year.
Mr Kwaku Obeng Boateng, District Chief Executive (DCE) who announced this in an address during the third ordinary meeting of the Assembly on Wednesday.
He commended the schools as well as the five students who scored single aggregates in this year’s examination but was however not happy that Asibey -Nkwanta D/A Junior High School scored zero per cent. He called on parents, teachers and other stakeholders of education to demonstrate more commitment and dedication to enhance the standard of education in the district to justify the over GH=A265,000 (650 million cedis) Capitation Grant received from the government. Touching on the Internally Generated Funds (IGF) of the Assembly, he announced that over GH=A248,000 of the estimated GH=A269,000 representing 70 per cent was collected.
The DCE commended Mr. Stephen Balado-Manu, Member of Parliament (MP) for the area for his immense contribution towards the development of the area.
