Three schools in Offinso North receive laptop computers

Akomadan (Ash), Sept. 27, GNA – Three schools in Offinso North Distr= ict have been presented with 30 laptop computers to aid the teaching and learning of Information Communication Technology (ICT). The beneficiaries are Akomadan Junior High School (JHS), Nkenkensu JHS and Senior High School (SHS).

The package comes under the mathematics, science and technology scholarship programme initiated by the Environment, Science and Technology Ministry. Mr Isaac Appiah, Head of Training, rlg Communications, a local compute= r assembling company, handed over the laptops to them at a ceremony held at Akomadan in the Ashanti Region. He said his company would be on hand to provide the needed services an= d technical assistance the schools might require, regarding the use of the computers. The Headmaster of Nkenkansu SHS, Mr Baba Iddrisu Seidu, appealed for the extension of electricity to schools in rural communities for effective use of the computers.

He said the educational authorities should give the needed attention t= o deprived schools by creating the right conditions for effective academic work. Nana Kwaku Owusu, Akwamuhene of Akomadan, encouraged parents to show more interest in the education of their children.
