Cape Coast, March 2, GNA – A circuit court at Cape Coast, on Wednesday remanded Ibrahim Issah, a butcher, Joseph Sewornu and Kweku Yeboah, both traders, for allegedly possessing stolen livestock, valued at about 3.2 million cedis. They pleaded not guilty and will reappear on March 14.
Police Chief Inspector Hope Azasoo, told the court presided over by, Mr Mustapha Logoh, that on Tuesday, police on duty at the Moree Junction check point, intercepted a Hyundai taxi cab, on which the accused were travelling and during a search found nine live goats and four sheep in the boot. He said when the accused persons were questioned on the ownership of the animals, they could not give any tangible explanation as to how they came by them and they were arrested.
Inspector Azasoo said Issah later offered the police 100,000.00 cedis to drop the case, but the police rejected the offer.
