Three people die in car crash

Yawbarimakrom (Ash), Nov 25, GNA-Three people were killed when a taxi cab on which they were travelling crashed into a Ford tractor at Yawbarimakrom on the Kumasi-Nyinahin highway. The deceased were identified as Kwasi Adjei, 24, the driver, Kwame Tano and Kwabena Tawiah.

Three other passengers; Janet Adutwumwaa, Abena Benewaah and Ernest Agyei sustained serious injuries and are on admission at the accident and emergency unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH). Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ernest Fosu, Nyinahin District Police Commander, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA), said the accident occurred at about 1700 hours on Wednesday. They had gone to collect the body of a dead relative from the Toase mortuary to Nyinahin when the taxi run into the tractor, which had no tail light and was carrying bags of dried cocoa beans.

He said the driver of the tractor, Abu Issah, escaped unhurt and is assisting the police in their investigations. The bodies of the deceased had been deposited at KATH mortuary. The corpse that was being transported was also sent back to the morgue. 25 Nov.10
