Three more arrested in Westminster College scam

…Ghanaian Student to be arrested?

Three more international students at Westminster College were arrested yesterday on suspicion of using department long-distance codes to make personal calls.

So far, 15 students have been arrested in the case. Each student is suspected of making at least $750 in long-distance calls, which could constitute felony stealing under Missouri law.

Fulton Police Chief Charles Latham said the three students arrested yesterday have already posted bond. They are Nicolai Prasol, 23; Serghei Parson, 19; and Valentina Trufkin, 23. Latham said the students are all from Muldova in Eastern Europe.

College officials said the long-distance calls showed up last month in usually high phone bills. More than $50,000 in calls were made, said college spokeswoman Renell Franklin. Calls were made both domestically and to other countries, including Canada, Ghana, Albania, Muldova and France.

Latham said more students will probably be arrested.

“At this point, we really don’t know how they got the code,” Latham said. “The only commonality so far is that they were all international students.”
