Three landguards remanded

Tema, Aug. 30, GNA- The Tema circuit court ‘B’ has remanded three land guards at Maildjor near Ashale Botwe, for allegedly mounting road blocks, and collecting monies from some people in the area. Nii Ashitey, Nii Amarkwei and Evans Tyson charged with unlawful assembly and carrying dangerous weapons, pleaded not guilty and will re-appear on September 3.

Police Chief Inspector Edith Nutakor told the court that a complaint was made to the police that a group of men had turned themselves as landguards.

Inspector Nutakor said they blocked the main road at Maildjor, and attacked innocent people.

The prosecution said on August 26, this year, a police-cum-military operation team arrested the land guards.
