Three killed in motor accident at Makumah

Makumah (U/W), Nov. 1, GNA – Two boys and a woman were killed when a truck loaded with sheanuts crashed into a parked urvan bus at Makumah in the Upper West Region on Friday, a market day of the town. The dead were Nuhu Adams, four; Matiliba Manu, one, and his mother, Madam Abena, 49.

According to an eyewitness account, Adams crossed the truck and when the driver, Yahaya Tingeni attempted to save his life, the vehicle veered off the road and crashed into the bus which had been parked and waiting to pick passengers to Bole. Manu and his mother were in the bus. The Bole District Fire Officer, Mr Abdulah Laminu led a team of Firemen to chisel the mangled bus to retrieve the bodies. The Bole District Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ASP) Abraham Kwuah told GNA that the bodies have been released for burial after autopsy at the Sawla Health Post. He said Tingeni and his Driver’s Mate were in custody while investigations were ongoing.
