Three JHS students killed in road crash

Three students of the New-Koforidua Junior High School (JHS) in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality were killed when a Mercedes Sprinter bus on which they were travelling got involved in accident.

Sixteen (16) others suffered broken bones and cuts. The condition of two of them is said to be critical and are receiving treatment at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

The students were returning after a friendly football match with their counterparts in Konongo.

The deceased were identified as Angelina Akuoko, 15, Mary Oforiwaa, 16, and Joyce Kosso.

The incident has thrown the community into shock and grief.

The head teacher, Mr Walter Kofi Alifu, who confirmed this to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) said lost control of the steering wheel during a failed bid to go past a pick-up vehicle that was ahead of him.

It veered off the road and crashed into the bush.
