Sunyani, Aug. 28, GNA – Three institutions on Friday presented cheques totalling GHC 240,000 in support of the activities lined-up to mark the 50th anniversary celebration of the creation of the Brong-Ahafo Region.

Dormaa Traditional Council and Customs Inspection Company Limited donated GHC 10,000 each whilst the State Insurance Company presented a cheque for GHC 40,000.

Receiving the cheques in Sunyani to coincide with the inauguration of the official cloth for the anniversary, Mr. Kwadwo Nyamekye-Marfo, Regional Minister, thanked the donors and expressed the hope that the gesture would inspire other organisations to donate. Mr. Nyamekye-Marfo commended the traditional authorities who led the struggle for the creation of the region, formerly known as Ashanti-West in 1959. As part of activities to mark the celebration there will be a tree planting exercise, quiz competition, clean-up exercises, cultural activities as well as a durbar of chiefs and people of the region.
