Three footbridges to be constructed at Nsawam

Nsawam, May 30, GNA- Three footbridges are to be constructed at Nsawam to facilitate the movement of people, in view of the construction of a dual carriageway from Ofankor to the town.

President John Agyekum Kufour would cut the sod next month for the commencement of the project.

Mr Magnus Opare-Asamoah, Deputy Minister for Roads and Transport, announced this at this year’s Akuapem South District people’s assembly gathering at Nsawam.

He said plans were far advanced for the procurement of a 20-acre land to build a multi-market complex that would consist of a bakery, a parking lot and a filling station at Nsawam.

Mr Opare-Asamoah, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsawam said the market complex, would enable bread sellers to have a safe place for their business instead of on the streets. He told the people that government realizes the importance of Nsawam in the socio-economic development of Ghana, hence the several developmental projects to raise their status and well being of the people in the town.

Mr Andrew Nyarko-Adu, District Chief Executive (DCE), responding to questions said the District had been selected to benefit from the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA) to be used for the enhancement of agriculture in the area of storage processing. He explained that the MCA was granted to Ghana based on good governance exhibited by the ruling government and urged the people to support the government to fulfill all its dreams for the district and Ghana.
