Three fined 2.4 million cedis each for stealing

Breman Asikuma Fosuansa (C/R) April 17 GNA-A Breman Asikuma magistrate’s court has fined three persons 2.4 million cedis each for stealing a motorbike costing 4.5 million cedis belonging to one Kwamena Gyesi from Breman Fosuansa.

Yaw Akrofi, driver, Samuel Asante and Alhassan Takusu, 32, a mechanics would go to prison for six month each if they failed to pay the fines

Police Chief Inspector Gershon Awuyeh prosecution told the court,presided over by Miss Cynthia Hammond that on March 25 this year, Akrofi and Asante took advantage of a blackout in the village and broke into the storeroom of the Mr. Gyesi who had traveled outside the town and took his Yamaha motorbike.

They sent the bike to Accra and sold it to Takuru but on March 26 2007 Akrofi was arrested upon a tip-off and during interrogations mentioned Asante as his accomplice and Takuru as the buyer, he said. According to the prosecution the bike has been retrieved.
