Three districts approve President’s nominee

Sefwi-Wiaso (W/R), June 23, GNA – Three persons the President nominated for the for the post of District Chief Executives for Sefwi-Wiaso, Bia and Juabeso were endorsed with 100 per cent votes by their assemblies. They are Mr. Appiah Kubi Baidoo; Sefwi-Wiaso, Mr. Benjamin Armah; Bia and Mr. Asiedu Mensah Abrampah; Juabeso. This brings to 10 out of 11 DCEs whose nominations have been confirmed. On June 14, 22 of the 44 assembly members of the Ahanta West District voted to reject to Mr. Kwesi Biney’s nomination.

Mr Joseph Boahen Aidoo, the Western Regional Minister and Madam Sophia Horner-Sam, the Deputy Western Regional Minister thanked the assembly members for endorsing the President’s nominees and advised them to eschew bickering, backbiting and petty jealousies, which had been the bane of many district assemblies. He urged the assembly members not to use the floor of the assemblies to further their own political agenda.

Mr Aidoo called for collaboration between assemblies and traditional authorities in planning and executing development projects. At Essam, the capital for Bia, Madam Horner-Sam appealed to members of the assembly to work hard to provide facilities to enhance its operation. “The people are looking up to you for a turn around in their lives and in order for you to deliver, you must work as a team to be able to realise their aspirations”, she added.
