Three died in three separate accidents

Gomoa Okyereko (C/R) April 1, GNA – A total of three people died and two other received various degree of injuries in three separate accidents that occurred in the Winneba District within two days. Mr Nicholas Gasu, Winneba District Police Commander told the Ghana News Agency in an interview that on March 22, this year a vehicle from Tarkwa to Accra on reaching Winneba Junction had some fault and therefore packed at the shoulder of the road for repair works ASP Gasu said, while the driver was repairing the vehicle, the three passengers on board decided to rest at the other shoulder of the road when a driver of another vehicle, whose name was not given because of security reasons run over them, killing Efua Kwonyiwa instantly and injured Esi Kwonyiba and Agoa Agiefowa.

He said that Esi Kwonyiba also died later on arrival at the Winneba government hospital.

In accident No 2, which happened at Gomoa Mpota, a KIA water tanker knocked down Maame Efua, a 12-year-old girl, breaking her two legs, when she was crossing the road on March 23 2005.

Maame Efua is still on admission at the Winneba Government Hospital responding to treatment.

In accident No.3, a 60-year-old woman from Gomoa Okyereko, Efua Adadziwa met her untimely dead when she was knocked down dead on the spot by a vehicle when she was crossing the road.

ASP Gasu said that all the drivers have been granted police enquiry bail pending further investigations into the accidents.
