Three dead, two injured, in Cape Coast accident

Three persons died instantly, while two others sustained severe injuries, when a salon car en route to Petrol Roundabout, a suburb of Cape Coast, ran into them when it skidded off the road on Sunday evening.

The deceased, two females and a male, have since been deposited at the Cape Coast Teaching Hospital morgue pending identification and autopsy, whiles the injured a male and female are on admission at the same hospital.

Police Chief Superintendent Felix Kwesi Cosmos of the Cape Coast Motor Traffic and Transport Department (MTTD) confirmed the incident to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview on Monday.

According to him, at about 1830 hours on Sunday, the driver, Joseph Harrison, in charge of a VW Golf Estate Salon Car, with registration number AS 835-09, was driving from the Central Regional Coordinating Council direction towards the Petrol Roundabout.

He said on reaching a section of the road, Harrison lost control of the vehicle and veered off into the pedestrians.

He said Harrison, who sustained minor injuries, has been treated and discharged, but is in police custody, while investigations continue.
