A circuit tribunal in Accra has granted a 70 million cedis bail to an auto mechanic, who defrauded an accountant of 63 million cedis under the pretext of supplying him with a chemical, which could attract fishes in the high seas.
Daniel Amuh, 28, pleaded not guilty to two counts of conspiracy and defrauding by false pretences. He will appear again on September 25.
Two accomplices, who the prosecution named as Okine and Ahmed, are on the run. The prosecution said sometime last year, Amuh and the other two approached Mr Abu Ishmael of West African Industrial Development at Pantang, near Accra, that they had a German company which could supply some chemical called “Chamdite”. The accused convinced the complainant that the chemical could attract fishes in high seas and collected 63 million cedis from him. Amuh and his accomplices supplied a fake chemical to the complainant, who reported the matter to the police.
