Three brothers in custody for causing harm

The Atwima District Magistrate Court at Nkawie presided over by Mr. Kwaku Dampare, has remanded three brothers in prison custody for assaulting and inflicting cutlass wounds on Kofi Acheampong, a 32 year-old farmer.

They are Chama Dagarti, 28, Matara Dagarti, 31 and Charita Dagarti, 25, all farmers at Asakraka near Asante-Akropong.

All of them pleaded not guilty and would re-appear on June 2.

Police Inspector Peter Nyanueke told the Court that on March 13 this year, Acheampong went to Asakraka and on his return, saw a bushfire on a cocoa farm.

He said the three brothers who also got to the scene assisted Acheampong to put off the fire.

Later, the brothers suspecting Acheampong of having started the fire turned against him.

They assaulted the victim inflicting cutlass wounds on him.

A “Good Samaritan” who reported the case to the Police rescued Acheampong and after police investigations, the brothers were charged with the offence.
