Three armed robbers arrested

Suhum, July 11, GNA – Three armed robbers were arrested at Suhum when they broke into a mobile phone shop, “Amoaseo Trading Enterprise,” at Suhum in the Eastern Region.

The armed robbers were suspected to be among a number of armed robbers operating at Suhum and its surrounding areas. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency a spokesman of the police said two of the armed robbers were arrested in the shop while the third was arrested when he was about to board a vehicle.

He said the armed robbers broke one of the windows of the shop with a cement block and two of them entered while the other stood watch. The unusual noise created in the course of breaking the window attracted a man who was sleeping in a nearby lotto kiosk and he raised alarm that alerted people in the neighborhood.

The spokesman said even though the armed robbers were shooting indiscriminately, the people managed to arrest the two in the shop and later arrested their other colleague in his attempt to board a vehicle. The owner of the shop Mr S. E. Amoah said the incident was the second time that armed robbers had broken into his shop.
