Awutu Obrachire (C/R), May 10, GNA – The Presiding Member of the Awutu-Effutu-Senya District Assembly, Mr. Alex Afenyo Markin, has appealed to members of the Area Councils in the district not to allow their political affiliations hinder them from performing their duties. He urged them to work as a team to develop their areas. Mr. Markin was inaugurating the Obrachire, Bontrase and Jeikrodua Area Councils at separate ceremonies at Bontrase, Jei Krodua and Awutu Obrachire.
He reminded the members of the non-partisan nature of the district assemblies, unit committees and area councils and added “you should put aide your political ideas and discharge your duties in accordance with the laid down regulations”.
The Presiding Member urged them to cooperate with their chiefs and their elders because it is through togetherness that there would be peace and development in their communities.
Mrs. Emelia Allan, Bawjiase Area Manager of Plan Ghana, a non-governmental organisation, promised that her outfit would provide 50 million cedis to the district assembly to hold capacity building workshop for members of the councils. 10 May 07
