Those saying Dec. polls will be postponed are ‘alarmists’ – Kweku Baako

Editor-in-Chief of the New Crusading Guide, Kweku Baako has dispelled fears that this year’s elections might be postponed.

The Electoral Commission on Monday disqualified thirteen Presidential aspirants for failing to meet the criteria after filing their nomination.

Following the disqualification of the candidates, there have been fears and speculations that the decision by the EC might affect the date for the 2016 elections as some candidates have indicated their resolve to take legal action against the Electoral Commission.

Addressing the issue on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo, Kweku Baako noted that “those who say the election will be postponed, I think are scare-mongering”.

To him, they are only exaggerating the issue.

According to him, he “cannot see a situation where any case that will go to the court relative to this decision by the EC will delay unduly. I can’t see it happening. I see a fast-track urgent treatment of all the cases because that is what the Judiciary will be minded to the larger, bigger national interest.

“…I feel when the concerns become excessive, it amounts to exaggeration. It has no foundation. We will have this election on December 7th,” he added.
