This year’s National Youth Day to be marked in Kumasi

This year’s National Youth Day celebration slated for August 12, will be marked in Kumasi with the presentation of awards to some distinguished personalities.

The personalities have been selected from Ghana and Nigeria for their immense contribution to the development of the youth in their respective countries.

“Building a better world: Partnering with the Youth” is the theme for the event which would be held under the auspices of KWAKAF International, a global youth organization based in Canada, the National Youth Authority (NYA) and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.

A press statement issued and signed by Rowland Odih, African Coordinator of KWAKAF, underlined the need to strengthen mechanisms for partnerships with young people to increase opportunities for successes on all fronts to help build a better world.

“Collective and concerted efforts on the part of all stakeholders is needed to respond to the pressing global challenges faced by young people, and partnering is the key to harnessing such efforts” it said.

According to the statement, the award winners were selected to appreciate their successful partnerships with young people in Africa – a move towards mobilizing them for nation building, economic and social development and the unity of Africa.**
