Thirty-nine babies delivered on Christmas day in Kumasi

Kumasi, Dec. 26, GNA – Thirty-nine deliveries were recorded in the various government hospitals in the Kumasi metropolis on Christmas day. Out of the number, Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) alone recorded 19 deliveries, 13 males and six females. Madam Evelyn Boateng, Principal Nursing Officer, said there were two caesarean sections to deliver two males and a female and that the babies and their mothers were all doing well.

Manhyia District Hospital also recorded eight births, Mrs Nsiah Acheampong and Miss Sophia Dompeh, both staff midwives on duty told the They stressed the need for the nursing mothers to observe exclusive breastfeeding and early reporting of any complications for treatment.

At the Suntreso hospital, six deliveries of five girls and one boy were recorded.

Mrs Hanna Butler, a senior midwife on-duty said the babies and their parents were hail and hearty. Five babies were delivered at the Tafo hospital, Miss Esther Akyiaa, a midwife in-charge of the maternity ward told the GNA that they were made up of three girls and two boys and that they were all doing well.

The Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) hospital recorded one delivery. Mrs Theresa Mensah-Agboh, Principal Nursing Officer in-charge of the maternity ward said the baby girl and her mother were doing fine.
