Thirteen convicted for defecating near TOR’s pipelines

Tema, Jan 17, GNA – Two courts in Tema have convicted 13 people for defecating around the fuel pipelines of the Tema Oil Refinery (TOR) early this month.

They all pleaded guilty to causing public nuisance. Six of them who appeared before a Tema Magistrate’s court were fined 100,000 cedis each in addition to entering into a bond to be of good behaviour for one year or go to jail for three months in default. The other six were dealt with at the Tema Circuit court “B” and were ordered to execute a bond to be of good behaviour for a year or in default 20 days in prison.

The prosecution’s case was that on January 06, security personnel including the military on duty around the fuel pipeline arrested the accused persons attending to the nature’s call close to TOR’s pipeline’s and arrested them.
