Third Regional Ministers conference to be held in Ho

Ho, Aug. 12, GNA – The third Regional Ministers conference would be held in Ho, the Volta Regional capital from Tuesday, 7th to Sunday 12th September 2010.

The event would be opened with a durbar at the forecourt of the Residency of the Regional Minister on 8th September, 2010 at 0830 hours in Ho.

A statement signed by Mr. Vincent Adzato-Ntem, Volta Regional Coordinating Director, on behalf of the Regional Minister, said that President John Evans Atta Mills would address the durbar.

In another development, the Constitution Review Commission would also hold a Regional Mini Consultation and Hearing in Ho on 23rd and 24th September, 2010, according to a statement signed by Dr. Raymond Atubuga, Executive Secretary of the Commission.

It said the Commission would meet with interest groups to ascertain their views on the operation of the 1992 Fourth Republican Constitution and in particular its strengths and weaknesses.

The statement said it was also to articulate the concerns of the people as regards the amendments that might be required and also make recommendations to the government for consideration and provide a draft bill for possible amendment to it.

It said issues to be deliberated on are national development planning, executive powers including transition of executive authority, legislative powers including transitions of Parliament and legal sector issues and the judiciary.

Others are independent constitutional bodies, traditional authority and national elections and related issues.

The rest are decentralization and local governance, public service and human rights including gender and access to justice issues.

The CRC was inaugurated by President John Evans Atta Mills in January this year.
