Third Battalion fetes school children to mark Independence Day

Sunyani, March 7, GNA – Military personnel on Monday entertained students of first and second cycle schools and the general public at the Liberation Barracks in Sunyani, as part of activities marking the country’s 48th Independence Anniversary. The Third Generation Band, the resident band of the Third Battalion of Infantry, provided music to which the school children danced, after they have been served soft drinks and food.

In a speech read for him, Lieutenant-Colonel Alhassan Abu, Garrison Commander, said the occasion was meant to further enhance military-civil relationship.

Nana Kwadwo Seinti, Brong-Ahafo Regional Minister and heads of departments, were present.

The military had earlier in the day taken the school children and members of the general public through their operations. These include inspection of quarter guard, guard changing display, mortar drills, weapon exhibition and test firing, obstacle crossing demonstration and photo exhibition.
