H.E. Mr. Isaac Osei, Ghana’s High Commissioner to the UK has asked Ghanaian graduates from various Universities in Britain to think about Ghana first when faced with the critical choice of deciding where they wished to work.
He said by returning home, they would not only be doing their patriotic duty but helping to make a notable contribution to national development and laying a sound foundation for the future generation of Ghana.
Speaking at a ceremony marking the presentation of certificates to new graduates of the Kensington College of Business, Mr. Osei said the government of the New Patriotic Party would continue to create opportunities that would make life comfortable for the returning graduates.
Mr. Osei told the Ghanaian graduates that they should follow the example of their compatriots who had heeded the call to return home and were making gigantic contributions to the national effort adding that “no one is going to develop our country for us”.
He indicated that their accomplishments would set them up as role models and mentors for the youth in Ghana and inspire and encourage them to strive to achieve excellence in their chosen fields.
High Commissioner Osei commended the 12 Ghanaian graduates for their sterling performance and comportment and urged them to exhibit the same level of commitment in their working life wherever they found themselves.
The Kensington College of Business has the distinction of being one of the few Colleges in the UK approved by the UK Government to offer degree courses.
The Principal of the College, Mr. Ian Pirie told the High Commissioner that the school continued to enjoy the company of a sizeable number of Ghanaian students in the various professional programmes, undergraduate and graduate degree courses each year.
He thanked the High Commissioner for the visit and added that his visit would inspire Ghanaian and African students in the College to work even harder to excel in their various study programmes.
Mr. Abubakar Jah, Head of Administration of the College and a product of the College expressed the hope that the visit would open the floodgates for meaningful collaboration with institutions of higher learning in Ghana.
The graduating students, all of whom obtained the degrees issued by the Glamorgan University included Mr. Wisdom Kwesi Ayitey, a staff of the Internal Revenue Department, who was presented with a Master of Science degree in management.
The Bachelor of Arts degree went to Mr. Emmanuel Asante, Kwame Frimpong, Bernice Bentil, William Ofosu and Edith Lydia Lamptey. The others are Henry Bediako, Frank Anderson, Ewura Ama Adu Botchway, Jude Bannerman Williams, Bernard Danquah, John Cofie and Michael Blay.
Ms Emelia Kyei received the Institute of Business and Administrative Management Higher Diploma Certificate.
