Thieves burgle kente shop

Sunyani, June 27, GNA – Thieves on Thursday broke into Nana Sei Kente and Adinkra Shop, a popular Kente shop in Sunyani, and made away with 25 pieces of kente cloths. The thieves did not take any of the Adinkra cloths on display. Nana Sei, proprietor of the shop, told the Ghana News Agency that one piece of the cloths was sold at between three and four million cedis and the stolen items had been ordered to specification by individuals in Accra.

Nana Sei, who has been in the business for the past 13 years, said the thieves took advantage of a heavy downpour in the night and cut through the ceiling and entered the shop. He said the burglars in their hurry left some of the cloths on the ceiling and had been retrieved. The proprietor said the case had been reported to the police who are yet to make any arrests. 27 June 07
