There will be no “all-die-be-die” in 2016 election – Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has taken a swipe at the flagbearer of the opposition New Patriotic Party, claiming there will be no all die-be-die during this year’s election.

Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo made the infamous comments in the heat of the 2012 electioneering period.

But President Mahama speaking to Chiefs and people in the Western region as part of his campaign tour stated this year’s election will be peaceful and violent free.

“There would be no all die be die during the elections. The elections would be peaceful.”

Mr. Mahama also stated that the New Patriotic Party has resorted to a defeatist attitude towards the upcoming elections.

Addressing fisherman, fishmongers, canoe owners and chief fishermen at Axim in the Evalue Ajomoro Gwira constituency in the Western region, Mr. Mahama stated that attacks on the Electoral Commission by members of the opposition New Patriotic Party is part of the strategy to discredit the EC ahead of the polls.

According to him, the NDC is poised to win the December polls and urged the Chiefs and people of the Western region to disregard the negative comments being made by NPP members ahead of the elections.

“When two teams are about to play a football match and the other starts attacking the referee then it means that team is aware that they will lose. Even ahead of the match they are saying the pitch is not good, the marking is bad and all sorts of things.

“But the one who knows will win is cool and collected, has any of you heard any member of the NDC insulting the EC?, it is because we know God is on our side and we will win the elections. We know we will win the 2016 elections and continue with our good words,” President Mahama said amid cheers.
