There is no Regional Hospital in Wa-NPP

Wa, Sept.6, GNA – Members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Upper West Region say it is never true that a Regional Hospital had been constructed in Wa.

It is also not true that five polyclinics had been built in some parts of the region as being alleged by the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister, Mr. Caesar Kale, in a publication carried by the Daily Graphic in its August 17 edition with the caption, “Efforts to increase access to health in Upper West”.

Mr. James Dugrah, Regional Communication Officer of the party, in a press statement in Wa on Monday, said only a sod cutting exercise was done on the Regional Hospital project in July 2010 but as at now no constructional works had started on the project let alone completing it.

Similarly, President John Atta Mills also came to the Upper West Region on familiarization tour in March this year and cut sod for the construction of the five polyclinics but as “I speak now” none had been completed.

“The truth is that there is no regional hospital and five polyclinics built in the Upper West Region by the NDC as we speak now. We waited for Mr. Kale and Mr. Joseph Yieleh Chireh, Minister of Health, to issue a disclaimer to set the record straight but to no avail for”, he said.

Mr. Dugrah said it was interesting and absurd to note that the August 17, 2011 edition of the Daily Graphic, the Deputy Upper West Regional Minister Mr. Caesar Kale categorically lied to the good people of the region that the NDC government had already constructed a regional hospital and polyclinics in the region.

The Daily Graphic of Wednesday August 17, 2011 edition attributed to Mr. Kale said: “A regional hospital has been constructed in Wa. Five polyclinics have also been constructed in some parts of the region while a number of CHIP compounds and other health institutions are being established.

Mr. Dugrah said the unfounded and non-existing claims had gone a way to buttress the same falsehood of assertion that the Wa Regional Hospital had been commissioned as captured among the NDC so-called top 50 achievements in the “Better Ghana” green book.

The NDC, Mr. Dugrah noted, had established a propaganda machine to “perpetuate lies and fabrications” and said that was worrisome as it did a great disservice to the region and also serve as a recipe to drive away philanthropists and development partners who would have wished to come and develop health facilities in the region.
