“Horror! …. Father forces daughter to eat human excreta,” is the headline of the lead story of the Weekend Chronicle. The story says Kwesi Ofori, a Kente weaver of Kona in the Kwabre District of Ashanti who forced his seven-year-old daughter (name withheld) to eat up the human excreta of a younger sister, has fallen foul of the law, and is on the run. The Weekend Chronicle says Ofori did not stop at that. He made sure that the little girl also drank a cup full of water to wash down the excreta to teach her a lesson. According to the paper, the inhuman punishment meted out to the girl followed her failure to clean up her younger sister’s faeces which led to an imposition of a fine by a community Health Inspector.
