The Rt Rev Dr Yinkah Sarfo and 32 others honoured in Kumasi

Kumasi, Oct. 9, GNA – The Right Reverend Dr Daniel Yinkah Sarfo, Anglican Bishop of Kumasi, together with 32 other high profile personalities have been honoured at a ceremony, for their devotion to the growth of the Anglican Church and the progress of society.

Professor Edward Badu, Dean of the Faculty of Distance Learning, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Madam Helena Cobbina, a retired police officer and member of the Asante Kotoko Management Committee, the Rt. Rev. Edmund K. Yeboah, a retired Bishop, and the Very Rev Major (retired) C.K. Afranie, a former Dean, both of the Kumasi Anglican Diocese, were among those who received honours. They were decorated with medals and presented with Certificates and Citations.

The occasion climaxed the 25th anniversary celebration of the Men’s Fellowship of the Saint Anne’s Anglican Church at Ash-Town in Kumasi. Mr Francis Kwaw Atobrah, Chairman of the Fellowship, said the commitment they “have demonstrated and continue to demonstrate” towards the spread of the Gospel and the socio-economic well-being of the people, has been extraordinary.

He said he was confident that the recognition would inspire others to join in the drive to help the people to distance themselves from evil and to have a more generous heart to support the socially disadvantaged. In a speech, The Rev Dr Sarfo pledged that they would continue with the good works.

He said as Christians they were enjoined by their faith to be of assistance to the poor, the sick, orphans and the needy. He said since Jesus Christ was himself a “servant”, there was the need for all Christians to accept to be of service to society. “In doing this, they should be guided by the values of humility, respect and self-denial,” the Rt Rev Dr Sarfo added.
