The race is between two parties -Osafo Marfo

Abosso (W/R) Sept. 3, GNA – Mr Yaw Osafo Marfo, Member of Parliament for Akim Oda has said this year’s presidential and parliamentary elections would be a race between the NPP and the NDC. He described other political parties in the race, as babies who are struggling to crawl and that they cannot compete with others who are already on their feet.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign for the Member of Parliament for Prestea Huni Valley Constituency, Mr Albert Kweku Obbin, at Abosso near Tarkwa, Mr Osafo Marfo called on the electorate to vote for the NPP come December 7.

He said the NPP believes in democracy, adding that, “people call on radio and television stations to express themselves without fear, unlike the NDC era where people especially Journalists, were humiliated”. Hon Osafo Marfo denied speculations being peddled by a section of the media that, the NDC has conquered the Central Region adding, if the elections were to be conducted today the party would win all the 19 seats.

He said moneys that would accrue from the oil production in the country, would be set aside for developmental projects in the region. He urged the people to vote for Nana Akuffo Addo as President and Mr Obbin as the Parliamentarian.

Mr Osafo Marfo described Mr Obbin as being very instrumental in parliament especially on job creation for the youth.

The Western Regional Minister Anthony Evans Amoah, who spoke on galamsey issue in the constituency said, the MP was advocating for a parcel of land for the small scale miners to work on. Mr Amoah noted that, if there was a government who had job creation for the youth at heart, then it was the NPP government saying, “if what Prof. Mills said about galamsey was really true, then why were they not able to do it when they were in power”.

According to him, the NPP government has education of Ghanaians at heart, citing an 18 unit classroom block under construction at Bogoso, the biggest in the region to buttress his point.

Mr Obbin mentioned some developmental projects that were undertaken in the constituency through his efforts as evidence of his good wishes for the people.

The Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Chief Executive, Mr George Mireku Duker, reminded the people about the peace being enjoyed by Ghanaians, saying, it was enough evidence to show how much the NPP believes in democracy.
