The married should stay married-Nkoranza Queenmother

Busunya (B/A), Sept.9, GNA – Nana Adutwumwaa Dudaa Kani, Queenmother of Nkoranza in Brong Ahafo at the weekend urged married couples to live by their nuptial vows and ensure the proper upbringing of their children.

She cautioned couples against divorce since children from broken homes are mostly frustrated in life.

This was contained in an address read for her by Nana Owusuaa Ayiwa, Queenmother of Sikaa and secretary of the Nkoranza Queenmothers Association at a forum at Busunya in Nkoranza North District.

The forum was aimed at educating the people on best practices that ensure marital bliss in which couples willingly appreciate and play their roles and responsibilities to establish a happy home.

Nana Adutwumwaa advised women to be more passionate and accommodate the wrongdoings of their husbands and vice versa so that together they could bring up their children imbued with discipline.

She advised women to make time for their husbands so that they would also continue to love and assist them in their economic activities.

The Queenmother condemned the domestic violence in all its forms and asked couples to rather choose peace and fellow feeling.

“Since couples are role models for their children, they should guard against negative practices which could be picked by children and subsequently ruin society”, Nana Adutwumwaa added.

She advised couples to pool their resources and invest in the education of their children.

The Queenmother cautioned girls against pre-marital sex and avoid teenage pregnancy, saying the association would soon take measures against the canker in the traditional area.

Nana Adutwumwaa advised the youth to take their education seriously and to actively participate in communal labour activities so that the government and other partners could assist in the development of the district.

Nana Okofo Nyarko Gyabaah 11, chief of Busunya, who presided, commended members of the association for initiating educational programmes to promote peace and understanding among married couples.

He urged the people to take a great lesson from the deliberation and move the community forward.
