The Church commended for their role in Ghana’s development

Accra, Aug. 10, GNA – President John Agyekum Kufuor on Tuesday commended the Church for its immense support to the country’s socio-economic development.

He said over the years the Church had been in the forefront in the provision of education, health, agriculture and improvement in the moral fibre of the society.

“The society over the years had been sustained by the good works of the Church and its leadership”, he said.

President Kufuor gave the commendation when a 13-member delegation from delegates attending the 24th General Council Conference of the World Alliance of Reformed Churches (WARC) paid a courtesy call on him at the Castle, Osu.

He said: “Ghana is a happy country ordained by God but politics tend to skew such God given tendency. Members of the various religions co-exist peacefully.”

Rev. Choon-Seng Song, President of the Council, said Ghana was the most peaceful country and was proud of the people, who he described as hospitable.

“I hope Ghana under your leadership will overcome all difficulties and develop.”

Rev. Song introduced the Reverend Dr Clifton Kirkpatrick President-elect of the Council to President Kufuor. The two-week Conference jointly hosted by the Presbyterian Church of Ghana and the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Ghana (EPC) was on the theme: “That All May Have Life in Fullness”.

More than 1,000 delegates from Africa, Asia, the Middle East, Europe, United States, Latin America, the Caribbean and Pacific Islands attended the Conference.
