The story says President Rawlings, back from his Caribbean tour in the heat of the electricity tariff crisis, “has raked up the matter of Dr Obed Asamoah’s stolen millions which was on the verge of being laid to rest with a frontal attack on those who reported and commercialised on the affair”. The Chronicle says President Rawlings in his characteristic ‘ascerbic and sometimes undiplomatic stance’, lashed out at the private press and the opposition, describing them as ‘gbemelawo’ (bush animals) who are trying to create chaos in the country on the wings of the missing millions affair. “They are tarnishing the image of the Attorney-General because the private media know that he was going to chase them one by one. That is the more reason they are afraid of him and trying to destroy his integrity as if he has committed any vicious crime”, the Chronicle quoted President Rawlings as saying.
