Abdul Fatawu Issahaku says his stunning strike against Charlton Athletic was “a reward for all the effort” after being named Sky Bet Championship Goal of the Month for August.
The Ghanaian winger, who has become a key figure at Leicester City, admitted the award was particularly meaningful given his struggles with injuries last season.
“I’m really pleased and very proud to have won Goal of the Month,” he said. “That goal was special, especially after missing so much football last season. Scoring that winner was a reward for all the effort. I always try to give everything, so it means a lot when I manage to score and help the team.”
Issahaku’s curling finish not only sealed victory for Leicester but has also underlined his growing influence in the Championship as the Foxes push for promotion.
