Accra, Dec 20, GNA – Ghanaians have been called upon to give thanks to God for going through this year’s elections devoid of violence. The Reverend Jonas Jones, Founder and leader of the World Liberation Church International (WLCI), preaching at a thanksgiving service at the Praise Temple Headquarters of the Church at Darkuman in Accra, made the call on Sunday.
He pointed out that the Church and Christians fasted and prayed for peace before, during and after the elections and true to their prediction, Ghanaians witnessed a violence free polls on December 7 2004.
Rev Jones stated that, “All things work well for those whose trust is in the Lord” and asked Christians to thank God for preserving Ghana and for the life of the Church and the people of the country for what have been acclaimed worldwide as a successful, peaceful, free and fair elections.
He urged Ghanaians to forge ahead in unity as one people with a common destiny and to put the rivalry associated with elections behind them and to work together for the progress of the nation. Rev Jones stressed the need for the people to be focused and to support the government to implement programmes to lift the nation out of its socio-economic problems, saying, “whatever you desire and pray diligently for you shall have it”.
He asked the people to thank God for guiding the country through out the year and to pray that the year 2005 would be a year of excellence, blessing, advancement and liberation for the nation and the Church. The WLCI leader urged Christians to prepare their hearts and minds for the birth of Christ and to be born again in the blood of Jesus for the country to be liberated and to be “free and free in deed”. Mr Fred Tagoe, a Ghanaian resident in Munich, Germany was inducted as an Elder and the International Co-ordinator of the Church at the service by the Chairman of the WLCI Council of Elders, Nii Ammah of the Barclays Bank Head Office, in Accra.
Elder Tagoe stressed the need for Christians to revive their spirit in God at all times and “to worship with power and in truth” for their prayers to be answered.
