TEXPO in line with new local government system – Korbieh

Tema(Greater Accra), 8 Dec. ’98 – The proposed Tema International Trade Centre (TITC), and the Tema Exhibition and Industrial Fair (Texpo ’98), are in line with the new local government system, Mr Francis Korbieh, Deputy Minister for Local Government and Rural Development said yesterday. Speaking to GRi at Texpo ’98 at Tema, he commended the Tema Municipal Assembly (TMA), for its initiative, good planning and management of the fair grounds. Mr Korbieh noted that TMA is playing the role envisaged under the decentralisation programme for district assemblies to act as facilitators of

development within their areas. He called on other assemblies to follow the steps of TMA taking into consideration their local conditions. Nii Armah Ashietey, Tema Municipal Chief Executive, said after the fair which ends today, the assembly will promote a Christmas bazaar which will end on 31st December.
